Soprano María Martín (Valladolid) completed her Master’s degree in Opera Singing at the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen under the guidance of Krisztina Laki and Thomas Mohr. She graduated with distinction in Singing from the Conservatorio Superior de Castilla y León (Abenauara Graffigna and Javier San Miguel) and previously earned her Bachelor’s degree in Piano at Musikene (Ricardo Requejo), where she also specialised in vocal accompaniment (Enrique Ricci). She additionally holds a Master’s degree in Musical Research (VIU) and a Master’s degree in Cultural Project Management and Entrepreneurship (UNIR).
In 2024 she received the prestigious Richard Wagner Scholarship awarded by the Richard-Wagner-Stipendienstiftung in Bayreuth. Her awards include First Prize at the International Artists Competition and the International Mozart Competition Vienna, the Grand Prize and Gold Prize at the World Classical Music Awards, Third Prize at the Mimas Music Festival International Competition (Procida, Italy), and the “Ópera de Oviedo Prize” at the 36th International Singing Competition of Logroño. She also secured first place in the Young Singers Programme of the Spanish National Youth Orchestra (JONDE), performing at the Teatro Calderón (Valladolid).
Her artistic development has been enriched by masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Luis Olivares Sandoval, Suwon Kim, David Mason, Iwona Sobotka, Ana Luisa Chova, Juan Antonio Álvarez Parejo, Rubén Fernández Aguirre, and Isa Katharina Gericke.
Throughout her career she has collaborated with distinguished national and international conductors, including Cristóbal Soler, Sasha Yankevych, Zoe Zeniodi, Aarón Zapico, Olof Boman, Ulrich Windfuhr, Killian Farrell, Yoel Gamzou Alice Meregaglia, William Kelley and Yu Sugimoto.
She has been invited to the Young Artist Gloger Festival in Kongsberg (Norway) to give recitals with pianist Bengt Forsberg, and to participate in the Trondheim Barokkfestival.
She is noted for her versatility in a wide range of roles, having portrayed characters such as Maddalena, Delia, 2. Junge Nonne, Diana, Echo, Voce dal cielo, Barena, Pastuchnya, Giannetta, Elvira, Papagena, Stimme, Morgana, and Princesse Laoula at Theater Bremen. She has also performed Sirena at Ópera de Oviedo; Pamina and Susanna at Theater am Leibnizplatz in Bremen; Hyacinth at Theater Osnabrück; Vitellia at the Allee Theater in Hamburg; and Marola in La tabernera del puerto in Salamanca. Her repertoire combines opera from the Baroque to the contemporary style with equal proficiency.
